Hi i am a nfl18coins.com team guides and news editor and Honestly feel like when you get enough experience in rushing the passer, and have a good enough pass rusher, sacking an AI QB becomes based entirely on luck. Sure a good Offensive Lineman makes a difference, but the AI QB has gotten really good at sensing pressure and either throwing the ball away or dumping it off.
Now I'm fine with this. As much as any elite Pass Rusher will deny it, sacking the QB in the madden NFL 18 does often involve an element of luck. The problem I have is Pass Rushers in Madden only gain EXP by either sacking the QB or making a tackle.
Because of this, I run into situations where I'm trying to develop a pass rusher, and I run into a team with a bad tackle but a decent QB. I spend the entire game beating the tackle 80% of the time, but the QB just dumps it off or throws it away the second I get near him.
Sometimes I get lucky and he holds on to the ball after I beat the blocker and get the sack. This gains experience based on luck. But other games where I didn't get a single sack, but caused pressure, forcing a QB to throw it out of bounds on 3rd down counts for nothing. we pay $80 a year for these games. I don't think it's unfair to ask for algorithm that rewards EXP to a pass rusher for affecting the play without getting a sack.
Considering the game is able to identify when a QB makes a pass under pressure and throw a message onto the screen, I'd imagine it wouldn't be much harder to associate that with XP given to a defenseman.
that would be nice. In addition to that they really need to do something with the CPU QB AI. I can't recall a single instance of the CPU QB scrambling away from pressure. I also hate it when the COU QB throws away passes from the center of the pocket with no penalty. Now I don't want to see a lot of intentional grounding penalties; what I want is for more QB's to look to roll out when the pressure gets close instead of heaving it out of bounds.
The easy way to do this is just adding a hurry stat, which should already be in the game by this point to be honest. I would also like to see hurry/sack percentages based on the number of pass rush opportunities the player had. The lack of advanced statistics in Madden is absolutely ridiculous. The furthest they go into it is probably QBR, which is a stupid statistic to begin with.
