Madden NFL 17 now has become the most popular American football video game around the world, more and more players join the furious competition and even the real-world professional team hold matches of the game too.
Having already bestowed our advice on the best Madden NFL 17 quarterbacks to base your team around, it's time now to look over this season's roster of wide receivers. After all, the best quarterbacks are not worth much if they've no one to throw to.
As ever, teams such as the New Orleans Saints, San Diego Chargers, New England Patriots and Arizona Cardinals are expected to put up impressive passing statistics again in the new season, but you’ll do well to look beyond these obvious names. Throughout the league, and throughout Madden NFL 17, there are receivers both young and old worthy of your time and consideration.
Today we’d like to introduce several best wide receivers in Madden NFL 17 for you. You know the wide receiver is a player who uses his speed and quickness to elude defenders and catch the football. Teams use as many as two to four wide receivers on every play. So the importance of wide receivers is needless to say.
Antonio Brown
With an overall rating of 97, Brown is the highest-rated receiver in Madden NFL 17 and the most obvious choice for this list. His superiority over his peers is deserved, too, thanks to the outstanding performances he has recorded for the Pittsburgh Steelers from 2013 onwards.
Where he really excels is in his acceleration, awareness, top speed, agility and, crucially, catching – the latter of which he gets the maximum 99 rating. Put him up against any cornerback in the game and he has the ability to make them look either invisible or ridiculously under-qualified for the job. If you can somehow manipulate the salary cap to get Brown onto your team then do not, under any circumstances, let him leave. Do whatever it takes to keep him.
Jordy Nelson
There's an argument to say that when you're playing for the Green Bay Packers and you've got Aaron Rodgers throwing you the football, it's difficult to look bad. That's hardly fair, though, as even someone of Rodgers' quality needs receivers that can regularly find enough space for him to throw the ball int.
Finding that space is Nelson's speciality, his route running rating coming in at 95. Best of all, he combines his talent for executing perfect running patterns with blistering acceleration off the line of scrimmage.
Odell Beckham Jr
Best friend of the highlight reel thanks to an inhuman ability to make some of the most outrageous catches the NFL has ever seen, if you're looking for a slice of the spectacular then you should be putting all efforts into acquiring Beckham Jr. On a New York Giants team that is otherwise mediocre, he's the player always ready to sting the opposition when they're least expecting it.
Alshon Jeffery
In only four seasons Jeffery has cemented his position as one of the most dependable and high-scoring receivers in the league, even when playing on a Chicago Bears team that has historically favoured the running game over passing. Jeffery is not deficient in any single area, making him a valuable target.
The 1.91m-tall South Carolina native does excel in the physical side of the game, though. At 79 he has the highest strength rating of any receiver (equalled only by Anquan Boldin), which means he can be supremely effective in short yardage situations – not least when you've only got a couple of yards to go for a touchdown. Send the ball high into the air to give Jeffery a chance to muscle his way above defenders and he won't fail.
